Morocco

Morocco is an enchanting world of medinas, markets and mosques. I love researching and planning trips but Morocco posed a challenge for me. I read post after post and got conflicting information about safety and ease of travel. With much thought and research I decided to hire a full time guide and driver to take us around Morocco for 9 days. Touring on your own is definitely doable and many people do it everyday but this was the right decision for us and I highly recommend it. Throughout our travels, sometimes we hire day guides or go on day tours, but we found that having a full-time English speaker was really helpful in giving us insight into the Moroccan culture and taking us to local experiences we never would have discovered on our own. Also, having a driver was so convenient. Driving in Morocco is not easy. It is fast, passing other cars on two lane roads is an art in and of itself, there are police speed/seat belt checkpoints often and driving at night is not recommended. Our driver was a living GPS and got us to places on time and safely. I am not going to say that there were not some white knuckle moments but I am so glad we choose not to drive ourselves.
